Policy Board Elects New Officers
The NRP Policy Board elected new officers at its April 17 meeting. Hennepin County Commissioner Mark Stenglein was elected Chair, Nicholas Kakos, Protection Neighborhood Representative, was elected Vice Chair, and Ken Kelash, Minneapolis Central Labor Union Representative was elected Secretary. The Policy Board elects its officers annually.




PHOTO: On February 8, 2000, nearly 400 Minneapolis residents anxious to help determine the future of the NRP attended a community meeting at the Whittier Neighborhood Center in South Minneapolis. The meeting, hosted by the NRP Policy Board in conjunction with Mayor Sharon Sayles Belton and the Minneapolis City Council, gave Minneapolis residents an opportunity to comment on five program operation proposals that were once being considered by the NRP Policy Board.

Phase II Timeline

The NRP Policy Board has been adhering to the following timeline for Phase II planning.

Fall 1999

Winter 2000

Spring 2000

  • Approve Phase II program operation model for planning and fund allocation subject to neighborhood input and citizen response
  • Hold City-Wide meeting to present Phase II model to public for input

Summer 2000

  • Sponsor community meetings to discuss Phase II model
  • Adopt Phase II program design
