East Phillips Improvement Coalition (EPIC) seeks Executive Coordinator

The East Phillips Improvement Coalition (EPIC) is looking for a creative and experienced community leader to serve as its Executive Coordinator. EPIC is a progressive young community participation organization emergent in one of the most diverse, inner-core neighborhoods in Minneapolis. Through its strong though small volunteer base, EPIC has created and begun implementation of several impressive redevelopment projects. We are seeking a staff person to work closely with the EPIC volunteer board to assist in the coordination and implementation of these major developments as well as proposing, developing and overseeing additional projects and programs in areas other than housing. This position also has the responsibility for the overall operations of EPIC and the day-to-day administration of the EPIC office and affairs.


Hours and Compensation:

The Executive Coordinator is a salaried, full-time position with some evenings and week-end work required. The salary from $39,000 to $45,000 depends on experience and skills. The benefit package includes 15 days of vacation, health and dental plan, and retirement. The EC reports to the Board of Directors via the Chair of the Board, and provides management of all EPIC functions and operations including program and development management, financial management, board and committee coordination, and community relations.


Required qualifications and skills:

The preferred candidate should be an energetic, personable, responsible self-starter with strong organizational ability. Requirements for this position include:

  • B.A. in nonprofit management, urban planning, community organizing, business admin. and/or related experience
  • Minimum of two years experience in nonprofit management
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, capital and operating
  • Experience in housing development and land use issues
  • One year experience in supervisory role
  • Experience working with volunteers of diverse ethnicity and income levels and a volunteer Board of Directors
  • Computer proficiency, including database management, spreadsheets, websites
  • Excellent verbal and writing skills
  • Second language (Spanish preferred) would be helpful
